  • School: Tewksbury Memorial High School
  • Class/grade: 2013
  • Award: Harvard Prize Book Award

Andover, Mass., June 21, 2012. Dennis Vecchi, Harvard Club of Andover Board Director, announces the presentation of the Harvard Prize Book this year to James Aronson of Tewksbury Memorial High School, Tewksbury, MA.

An outstanding student at Tewksbury Memorial High School, James has been on the honor roll each year while completing a rigorous sequence of courses. He has been the Captain of JV soccer, earning a varsity position as stopper, and competes in Track and Field in the discus, 55 meter dash and shotput. James is among the few high school students who has received perfect MCAS scores.

The Harvard Prize Book is awarded to the outstanding student in the Junior year who displays excellence in scholarship and high character, combined with outstanding personal achievement in other fields. The winners of this Award, through their intelligence and variety of personal
achievement, exemplify Harvard’s commitment to excellence.

The Harvard Prize Book winner is selected by the high school’s faculty and guidance counselors and is presented by a member of the Harvard Club of Andover at graduation, the National Honor Society induction, or in an annual school-wide award ceremony.

The Harvard Prize Book Award was established by Harvard Alumni in 1910 as part of an effort to identify talented
young students and to attract their attention to the unique educational opportunities at Harvard.

In the Program’s first years, the Harvard Prize Book was awarded at only a handful of schools in the New England
area.  Today, the Harvard Prize Book Award is presented in more than 1,900 schools around the world.

The Harvard Club of Andover welcomes new members who are graduates of all Harvard University schools, faculty members or administrative staff.  For more information about the Harvard Club of Andover, visit our website http://harvardclubofandover.com/ or contact Richard Soo Hoo, President, at 978-470-2293 or richsoohoo@aol.com.
