Silly question, Is it Tewksbury High or Tewksbury Memorial High? if so who died?
What should we call this new facility? Perhaps for $3-4 mm we can give some naming rights.

It is my understanding that Memorial High Schools are typically named to memorialize the veterans of the town. When TMHS was built in the late 50's, there would have been strong emotional motivation to memorialize the veterans lost in WWI, WWII, and Korea. The living veterans of WWI would have been into their 60s and 70s at the time, and the service and sacrifice of WWII and Korea veterans was fresh on people's minds. Many veterans of those two wars were also moving into Tewksbury with young families in the housing boom of the mid-1950's and 1960's.
To answer the question with certainty, one would have to look up the School Committee minutes from the period in the hope of finding an answer within the notes of the discussion leading to the vote which named the school.
