911 Calls Lead to Two Assault Arrests

Two-vehicle accident results in arrest.

 

A Lowell man faces assault and battery charges after an incident in a Tewksbury motel.

John M. Gavin, 45, of 94 Rock St. Apt. 3, was arrested after the desk clerk at Motel Caswell on Main Street, called 911 early just after 1 a.m. Thursday to report a possible fight going on in one of the rooms.

Three Tewksbury Police units responded to the motel, investigated and placed Gavin into custody.

Tewksbury man charged with assault

A 49-year-old Tewksbury man faces charges of assault and battery after an altercation with his step-son.

The incident started around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday when Police received a 911 call from a male caller regarding an argument with his step-son. Police then spoke to a female, who stated that no service was needed because her son was leaving the house.

Three police units responded to the scene and, after an investigation, arrested Thomas R. Babineau, 49, 1001 Chandler St. and charged him with assault and battery.

Police arrest Billerica man after crash

At 12:46 a.m. Friday, police received a call regarding a two-car crash near Wal-Mart on Main Street. Officers responded to the scene and spoke to the parties involved, one of whom received minor injuries and was later taken to Saints Medical Center in Lowell for treatment.

As the result of a license check, officers arrested one of the drivers involved. Duran Frances, McNeill, 27, 6 Holden St., Billerica, is charged with failure to yield and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.

Shoplifting arrest

Wednesday, just after 8 p.m., police received a call from a loss prevention officer at Home Depot regarding a shoplifting incident. Officers responded and arrested Deborah A. Couture, 55, of 196 Water St., Lawrence. she is charged with shoplifting by concealing merchandise (third offense).
