Accident Sends One To Hospital, One To Jail

A Methuen man is facing drunk driving charges as the result of a two-car accident earlier this week.
Charges of OUI-Liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stop at a stop sign have been filed against Xit Thanh Nguyen, 49, 6 Celia Drive, Methuen.
The accident took place Monday, around 9 p.m. at the intersection of South Street and Salem Road, long recognized as one of the most dangerous intersections in town.
The driver of the second vehicle, whose name was not released by Tewksbury Police, was transported to Saints Medical Center in Lowell with non-life-threatening injuries.
Other calls
- Police received a call from a resident at 5 Boisvert Road at 6:05 p.m. on Aug. 23, reporting a breaking and entering at that address.
- Police received a 911 cell phone call from a driver on Aug. 23, at 12 p.m. reporting a road rage incident at the intersection of Route 38 and Route 495. According to the caller, a man driving a black Honda Civic low rider with an exposed engine got out of his vehicle and assaulted the driver of a white truck. State Police were notified but the caller did not get the license plate of either vehicle involved.
- Police received a 911 call just before 5 p.m. on Aug. 23, reporting a one car accident at the intersection of Lowe Street and Starr Ave. Emergency responders found that the driver of the vehicle had driven into a tree. However, the driver escaped significant injury thanks to the air bags in her car. She refused treatment and no charges were filed.
