Alleged Thief Leaves Bike Behind During Escape

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

An alleged shoplifter may have escaped with some items from Wal-Mart but he also left something behind.

According to Tewksbury Police, dispatch was called by the Loss Prevention Department at Walmart on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at around 6:30 p.m. to report a shoplifter who had just left the store.

The caller reported that the alleged thief headed off toward the woods. But before he escaped into the trees, he left his bike behind at a fence. An officer recovered the suspect's getaway bike and brought it back to police headquarters.

Arrests:

Brenda Delucia, 42, 44 Michigan Road, Tewksbury, was arrested on Jan. 14 and charged with domestic assault and battery. The charges are out of Concord, Mass.

Additional incidents:

Several motor vehicle accidents were reported due to the foul weather on Wednesday, Jan. 16. However, just one injury was reported. Two accidents were reported in the identical location at 1460 Shawsheen St., with drivers striking a utility pole there at 6:02 a.m. and again at 8:54 a.m. The second accident resulted in one person being taken to Lowell General Saints Campus for treatment of injuries.

On Jan. 14 at 5:12 p.m., a woman called police to report that while shopping at Walmart her purse had been stolen out of her cart. She said she had called the credit card company to cancel her card and would come to police headquarters the next day to file a report. However, the woman called back to report she had contacted Walmart and was told the purse had been found and was safely locked up.
