Assault Suspect Escapes With Mom

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Tewksbury Police are seeking a suspect involved in an altercation at the Motel 6 early Wednesday (Jan. 4) morning.

According to the police report, a clerk from the motel called police around 4:30 a.m. to report a possible fight outside one of the rooms.

Four units responded to the scene and located the victim, who had suffered a laceration on his finger. Police were told that the suspect had escaped, with his mother, in a blue Toyota Camry. The vehicle was last scene travelling south on Main Street in the direction of Wilmington.

The victim was treated at the scene for his injury.

Local man charged with domestic assault (Jan. 5)

Police received a 911 call from a woman on Jan. 5. She told police that her boyfriend had been drinking all day and that he had hit her. The woman said she had left the house and had locked herself in a vehicle in front of the residence.

Officers arrived on scene and, after an investigation, arrested Robert W. Crosby, 35, of 69 Oak St., Tewksbury. He was charged with assault and battery.

Guess it wasn't very 'safe' (Jan. 4)

A man called police just after 11 a.m. on Jan.4 to report some stolen personal belongings. He said that he had left the items with a friend who lived on Davis Road and that the items were placed in a safe. According to the caller, he contacted the friend, who told him the items had been stolen from the safe.

Missing man found safe (Jan. 3)

Around 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 3, police received a call from a person reporting that an elderly gentleman had disappeared from WalMart. There was reason to believe that the man might be confused and there was concern for his welfare. Four squad cars and a K-9 unit were sent to the scene.

Fortunately, a short time later, the missing man was located further down Route 38 at the Dollar Store.

Arrests

Stephens Brooks, 36, 29 Emerald St., Medford, was arrested after a minor motor vehicle accident on Jan. 3 and charged with OUI-liquor and a marked lanes violation.

Franklin Baxley, 35, 57 DeCarolis Drive, Tewksbury, was arrested on Jan. 6, on a fugitive from justice warrant after a motor vehicle stop. A short time later, officers executed a search warrant at Baxley's residence.

Motel 6...Motel Caswell...a 24 hour police detail should be at each location and the motels charged for it.

Sam, I fully agree with you. Between the two hotels we spend a lot of our police department's budget!

Glad the elderly gentleman is okay, I believe I may have encountered him in his travels from one place to the other, because I stopped at a house in a neighborhood in that area I believe on that day and there was an older looking man who stopped walking and turned and stared at me, silent, even after I said hi to him, until I went inside the house. I probably should have asked if he was alright, but it's not real unusual for people to walk in that area so I thought maybe it was just someone who didn't want to say hi going for a walk... the staring was odd though.
