Ballot Is Finalized For Tewksbury Municipal election

Six-person race for Board of Selectmen tops the ballot.

The deadline has passed, nomination papers have been submitted and certified and the ballot is now set for the 2013 Tewksbury Municipal Election.

According to information provided by the Town Clerk's office, of those candidates who took out nomination papers, the only person not to turn them in was Robert Rosa, who had taken out papers for the Board of Selectmen.

In all, there will be five contested races in the April 6 Election. Here is a breakdown of all the contests:

Board of Selectmen: With Ann-Marie Stronach opting not to seek re-election, the gates were opened wide and a six-person race has developed for two seats. Incumbent Todd Johnson will be challenged by Mary Ellen Fernald, Jim Wentworth, Ken Miano, Ronert Marcin and Richard Menard.

School Committee: There will be a contested race for School Committee for the first time in three years, as incumbent Krissy Polimeno will be challenged by Lisa Puccia and Raymond Lisiecki for the two available seats.

Board of Health: This is fascinating and potentially confusing. There are two three-year seats up for grabs and one two-year seat. The latter was opened up when Ed Sheehan resigned from the board with two years left on his term. Raymond Barry and Joseph Knight will battle for that two-year seat, while incumbents Phil French and Christine Kinnon will face a challenge from James Killion for the two three-year seats.

Shawsheen Tech School Committee: Incumbent Patricia Meuse will look to stave off a challenge from former Tewksbury School Committee member Richard O'Neil.

Incumbents on the Planning Board, Housing Authority and Library Board of Trustees will be running uncontested this year.

Bill, is it possible to have a write up on each one of the candidates in order to help us decide what candidate we feel would be most qualified for the position they are running for This would be extremely helpful for all of the voters. Thanks!

Hi Mary, we'll be doing extensive coverage during the campaign season. Hopefully, that coverage over the next six weeks will provide voters with enough information to make an intelligent choice on April 6.

I have a lot of faith in the voters of Tewksbury to make the right choices. Itt should be an interesting race.

I can't wait for the opportunity to get my message out there. Please see my web page, www.RichardMenard.org for some details on me and what issues I stand for. You can contact me directly from this pages well. I look forward to continuing to meet with various civic leaders and organizations. I have met with the v.f.w., gained the TFD local 1647 endorsement, and am meeting with the Tewksbury Teachers Association in a few weeks to seek their support as well. This is my first campaign so I am relatively unknown...hopefully the public will support not only me, but most importantly the issues I stand for with one of their two votes this April 6th!

Sorry...auto correct..."this page as well" should be the text. Sr. Sabas, my H.S. English teacher from Pope John would have fits if she were to read that.

Supporting Ken Miano for Selectman. Ken seems to have what we need to help take our town back. Get out and vote. We need some change.

Ken and I share an uncommon last name but we are not related.
