Best Buy Reports Delivery Delays, Items Out of Stock
The retailer has told some customers that they cannot fulfill their online orders in time for Christmas.
Best Buy is telling some of its customers that the Christmas presents they ordered online won’t be coming in time for the holiday because the items are now out of stock.
Best Buy officials have declined to say how many customers or the items affected, according to Minnesota Public Radio, which is the state that Best Buy headquarters is located.
The company said overwhelming demand for products has caused “a situation that has affected redemption of some of our customers’ online orders.”
Retail consultant Howard Davidowtiz suggested the problem has to do with inventory management, reported Minnesota Public Radio.
R.J. Hottovy a retail analyst with Morningstar, said online retail sails are up about 15 percent this year.
"With the overwhelming amount of demand for online sales this year, it caught a couple of the retailers a little bit off guard," Hottovy told Minnesota Public Radio. "You have seen a couple of delays in terms of shipping. But generally speaking most of these companies have a pretty good track record, probably in the 90 percent range, of getting products to consumers when they were promised."

I don't buy it. It has more to do with the economy and lack of corporate credit. Unfortunately Customers are leaving best buy in droves because of unstocked shelves. And credit cuts through HSBC. Without customers best buy is doomed to fall like so many others in this economic climate.

I have to agree with Lori! In this economic limate, I believe it has more to do with Best Buy's relationship with its suppliers and the fact Best Buy may not be on very sound financial ground. Accoriding to what I read, these are orders placed as far back as "Black Friday".
My guess as a consumer is that Best Buy is going through some very tough times. The publicity nightmare of not meeting customer orders in time for Christmas may be very difficult repair. Best Buy appears to be starting down the samepath of demise as other electronic superstore. Best Buy is not long for the world.
