Burglary Suspect Arrested Twice In Two Days
The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
One of three suspects arrested in connection with a burglary last week was arrested again the very next day.
Erica Jane Ruane, 25, 15 Cannongate Road, Apt. 31, Tyngsboro, was arrested by Tewksbury Police the night of Dec. 4 and charged, along with two men, with breaking into a home at 666 Whipple Road earlier that day.
Raune was arraigned in Lowell District Court on Wednesday, Dec. 5 and released pending her next court date. Later that same day, she and a second woman were arrested stealing merchandise at Home Depot on Route 38. Ruane was charged with shoplifting items with a value greater than $100.
The second woman was identified at Sarah Donna O'Toole, 24, 2 Pollard St., Apt. 2, Lowell. She was arrested on two outstanding warrants and also charged with shoplifting in excess of $100.
Victim Runs Into Burger King To Escape Assault
On Friday, Dec. 7, at 1:09 p.m., police received a 911 call from a man who said he had just been assaulted by another man at the Motel 6. The caller said he had run into the nearby Burger King restaurant to escape the attack. Three police units responded to the scene. After an investigation, they arrested Anthony Menard, 43, 316 Rogers St. Apt. 2, Lowell. He was charged with Domestic Assault and Battery.
Additional Arrests:
Lois Collins, 60, 96 Summer St., Tewksbury, was arrested on Dec. 8 and charged with Domestic Assault and Battery.
Jose Manuel Alvarado, 44, 103 Bower St., Apt. 7, Lowell, was arrested on Dec. 8 and charged with shoplifting (3rd offense) after an incident at Marshalls.
Mario Cudia, 42, 62 Martha Ave., Tewksbury, was arrested on Dec. 8 and charged with OUI-Drugs, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, Negligent operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.
Sandra Cross, 56, 184 Marshall St., 2nd Floor, was arrested on Dec. 5 and charged with Domestic Assault and Battery.
Additional Incidents:
On Dec. 8 at 3:25 p.m., a Leicester Street resident called police and said she had been the victim of a threat over the telephone. The caller said she had the threat recorded on an answering machine. An officer was sent to the scene and a report was filed.
On Dec. 8 at 7:38 a.m., a Washington Street resident called police and said her daughter's car had been hit with eggs overnight. The caller said she had installed cameras outside her home and believed she had the car involved on tape. An officer was sent to the home and a report was filed.

Been there who cares about her mother's education? How is that relevant to the story? She did a real bang up job raising that piece of dog excrement. And yes I do have a job, one that requires and advanced degree, which I have. You are obviously not educated as demonstrated by your moronic comments on this site. So tell your educated friend that her daughter should be behind bars instead of robbing hard working people to support what ever problems she has.

Time to send a message to these thieves that come into Tewksbury and prey upon our property. Recently they are all from other towns targeting us. We all need to have a watchful eye for each others homes in these times. Enough is enough! Kudos to the police for apprehending these criminals but unfortunately they won't do any real time. The cycle of crime will continue with no shortage of low life's who could care less about anyone. Mandatory 10 years for breaking and entering in my opinion, that might be a start to slow this crime.

Hey Guys,
So very sad to view your comments…it amazes me that grown men (and I am assuming you both are) still resort to cruelty, name calling, and bullying. Clearly, neither of you (Bill and Nelson) has been affected by Heroin. It is a deadly addiction and people from all walks of life experience it. Actually, Erica is a beautiful young woman who got lost. She had 5 years off of Heroin and relapsed. The audacity of both of you floors me! She might have committed a crime, but your comments are irreprehensible. If either of you thinks she will receive some extended prison sentence for shoplifting and driving a car…think again. She will not. Hopefully, she will receive treatment and once again be a productive member of our society as she has been for the last 5 years. Heroin has affected many families, along with the ugliness that accompanies it. I am certain her parents are heartbroken, not proud. Honestly, I hope neither of you has children, for two reasons…because your words flow too easily in the direction of cruelty and because you both showed your weakness with your words, and weak parents could never endure a child addicted to Heroin. Hey Paulino....In your dreams! You scumbag! What has any police department in this area done to curb the amount of Heroin floating around our streets? I have an idea…maybe you could become actively involved in your community to do something about the amount of Heroin in our neighborhoods.

She should have never participated in that crime with those two scumbags shes accociated with she is just as guilty as them guit by accociation and why would she steal from home depot the same day she got arrested. Even though she was just driving the car, this poor man would have never had his house broken into if it was not for her she was their means of transportation she should have know better if shes trying to get her life on track.

While Erica may have at one time been a beautiful woman, from where she's sitting right now,...she's not. Her parents may be the greatest, highly educated scholars in Tewksbury, but that's not helping Erica. She's a mess. She probably does need to be put away for a long time, hopefully get treatment at the same time. It's terrifying to have your home broken into, whether or not you're home at the time (more terrifying if you're at home or your kids are at home and you're not). While Patch and Batch may not be the most eloquent, he makes a point when he says "I know a murderer who was a nice guy when not murdering people". I have to agree with him. This girl is a danger to the community as she is now. If she's an addict she could get behind the wheel of a car while under the influence and kill a kid on their way home from school. Or break into your house when your teenager is home alone or when you're sleeping. I feel for her parents, but this girl needs to go away for a long time and hopefully get better.

She is a criminal! Stop sugar coating it. Most criminals were nice people at one time. We can all sympathize with anyone struggling with hard times but if you associate with dirt bags and commit crimes you lose the support and patience of the community. She violated innocent residents homes and did not care about them so why should anyone give her a pass. 10 years in jail to sober up might make her think twice about stealing from people.

You are an imbecile, nothing I posted even hints of bullying. I'm sick of people making excuses for criminals such as the ones you're making. She strayed and got hooked on heroin...is this a joke? As far as your insinuation that I am an angry lonely man, you're far off. The real victims here are the people she has robbed not this criminal who I hope ends up in jail before she truly hurts someone. Take your moronic comments somewhere else.

Agreed. She never should have! As she is sitting in Framingham Prison right now, I am guessing she feels the same way. However, when on Heroin...one does not think clearly. At all. She is NOT some crack whore. She is from a good family. I know because when she was clean, I heard her speak when she was reaching out to others addicted to Heroin.

People like this keep getting slapped on the wrist until they kill some kid in an OUI, and then they get 6 months. Your argument is weak. "I know this guy, and when he is NOT murdering people, he's really nice." Stop defending her actions. Her family could be amazing, but that doesn't change the fact that these addicts are roaming our towns looking to rob and steal and assault innocent residents. Shady...

Assault? Really? Typically, they will run like scared cats before assaulting...they are NOT murderers...they are Heroin addicts, so your metaphor does not fit. Again, I encourage people to get involved to put an end to the Heroin freely roaming in our neighborhoods.

I guess no heroin addict ever killed someone? You're a clown. Keep blaming everyone else, because excuses solve problems. Addicts need more enablers like you. Stop commenting. You are not objective and keep stating the same foolishness over and over. You sound like an idiot.

Been There, I can appreciate what you are saying, but the heroin didn't drive the car, didn't steal, didn't assist in breaking into someone's property, she did all of those things. I hope she gets treatement and redeems herself, but until she does she should be locked away until she can prove that she won't do this again. I agree that some of the comments above are obnoxious, but I also don't think it's logical to just say "it was the heroin." I hope she gets help and never does this again.

Been There, I appreciate your comments and feedback. After reading all of the comments on this article, I was starting to think that you are the only one with logic regarding addiction. Heroin is becoming an epidemic in our communities and it is becoming more prevalent amoung the youth in our society. I only wish people new how dangerous this drug really is, then maybe they would understand the tortured world of addiction! I am not sure if rehab is the answer. I don't know how well this recourse works. I am wondering if they should start creating lockups strictly for addicts, so they can get the help they need, but also keep them off the streets, because they certainly are a danger to society, nevermind to themselves. It is horrifying to see how often this drug is starting to affect our community on a daily basis.

I think that creating lockups for addicts would be a good start. It would keep us safe, as well as them. Lowell declared October Opiate awareness month, but I'm not sure how much good it will do. The schools are starting to bring in speakers to reach out to kids as well, however, all teenagers believe this will not happen to them. Unfortunately, there are no easy answers.

That's great to hear that they have starting an Opiate awareness program. Even better to hear that they are bringing in speakers on this subject to the schools. I think all schools should follow and make it mandatory as part of the curriculum. The more communications the better. Unfortunely, I don't think kids know about the dangers of heroin and get caught up into trying it. If they only knew what it would do to their lives before hand, then maybe they would think twice about it. Every chance I get I preach the danger of it to my kids and their friends, and believe me, it makes a difference. They are scared to death of it.....

I see so many comments from people spewing hate. It is that type of negative energy that leads people to crime and addiction. What the world needs is Love! We need to embrace all members of our society. If we want a better safer world then we need to show love to those who need it the most. People who are suffering need treatment not prison. Prison just continues the cycle. We all need to love each other and stop judging one another.

This is someone's child. This is someone's sister. This is someone's aunt. Think about your words and how damaging they are and how they are part of the problem and not the solution. Drugs change people. This does not mean that if someone breaks the law they should not be punished. That is how society works. We all have someone we know and love that is on drugs, alcoholic or perhaps mentally ill. It does not excuse bad behavior, but it does not give us the right to judge them, or hurt them or their families who most likely have been through hell with the consequences of these problems. To those who have made judgements based on a picture, that is really heartbreaking. Take away the drugs and I happen to personally know there is a loving and beautiful person who is suffering and the drugs are symptom of that. Things can look different than they are. It is shameful to hurt the family with these comments. There by the grace of God go I. In other words, any of us could be in this situation or know someone in this situation.Would you want your family member talked about like that? Would you want people to be so hurtful towards your daughter or your sister? It is okay to say what she did was wrong, that she needs to accept responsibility for her actions, that we need treatment for these addicted people. It is not okay to call names and wound their already wounded souls and families. As a society, let's help eachother, not destroy eachother.
