Candidate Statement: Lisa Puccia, School Committee
This is the candidate statement for Lisa Puccia, candidate for School Committee.
My name is Lisa Puccia and I am a candidate for the Tewksbury School Committee. My husband Al and I have been Tewksbury residents since 1999 and have four children who are all educated through the Tewksbury Public Schools.
Prior to moving to Tewksbury, I worked 11 years as a Fraud Control Manager for BankBoston. My primary focus was on personal and corporate loss prevention and client retention. Over the past 14 years I have had the opportunity to stay at home and raise my children. This has allowed me the ability to be constantly involved in the schools and in every aspect of their education.
In 2005, I became actively involved in the Tewksbury Public Schools, mainly in the area of special education. During that time, I received my certification as an educational advocate through the Federation for Children with Special Needs, while also pursing a LEND (Leadership in Neurological Development) Fellowship through Children’s Hospital and UMASS Boston. Through my work as an educational advocate, I have been very fortunate over the years to have worked closely with our local, state and federal delegates on issues that affect not only our schools, but our community as a whole.
I am running as a candidate for School Committee because I believe that all children are entitled to a quality education. I believe that by serving on the School Committee, I can help effect positive change for the children of Tewksbury. I have made a commitment and investment in our community and would look forward to the opportunity to serve the students, parents and educators of Tewksbury.
