that's too bad. i feel for the employees who got no notice. That restaurant was a staple in Tewksbury

I hate to see businesses leave, but I can attest to a severe decline in service and quality in the last 3-6 months. It was one of my favorite places in town.

Yeah, Its pretty rotten when employers require a two week notice when an employee decides to leave but the employers never provide a two week notice for their employees when they decide to leave.

I don't plan on patronizing any of the Pic's other locations after learning they did this to their 30 employees. You don't just shut your doors without planning to do so - they could have given them notice. It is unfair to the employees to assume they are able to travel to the other locations to work there. Shame on them. If a business doesn't respect the employees, they won't be getting my business.

The poor people who worked here are the ones who will now suffer. Some of these emplyoees have been here for over 20 years, how are they supposed to just walk away with no notice. This company knew they were going to close and for them not to inform their employees is just wrong. I hope the poor people who lost their jobs get some kind of compensation not just offers for shifts in towns that are not convenient for them.

Maybe they should have tried karaoke. Maybe it Taxbury's new meals tax. We will all miss the revenue and the lobster pie.

Another business closing, and I think we lead the state in Empty buildings while we knock down more trees along 38. How about No building until All the abandoned properties are Re-Filled???

We have a building that fell down before it was completed. We have a mall that is empty only for a couple of businesses. We have a big construction project on 38 building more condo's. We have a Main road whose infrastruction is sad to say the least. We have restaurants closing. We have an empty fire house in South Tewksbury. But, we have lots of new and old taxes. Sad very sad......

Kathleen, I couldn't agree more!!! Lived here all my life and between the Corruption, a Tax everytime you turn around. water rates, Cell towers ruining the landscape, I'm thinking more and more about leaving. Another Smart move by our Selectmen, increase the meals tax, next it's the Air in your tires!!!!

It is sad to see a legend in town close. I worked there for many years and met many incredible people and made some wonderful lifelong friends. Thanks Piccadilly for all the memories.

Our kids grew up eating at the PIC as we used to call it, we made friends with the people that worked there, Pena, Vandel, Melissa "Cookie" Cook, Sam etc etc... yes, the food has gone down hill but it was one of our favorites, we last ate there on April 28th. Goodbye Mike, Melanie!

This place knew for the past year their plans on closing!How convenient that all the management team got placement at other locations. Those three have been corrupt since the moment they all began working together. Not to mention since the three amigos began managing Tewksbury is when service began to plummet. Not a big surprise, how can you keep a business open with a management team that has not an ounce of personality to maintain patrons!?!? So sorry to all the hard working staff that stuck around and are jobless now!

Just another sign of the times. This town is going down the tubes one business at a time. Who will be next? If business cannot survive it also takes into account that the town's occupants are not patronizing them, due to the fact that we are being taxed to death! Paychecks not going up and no money to do any extras like eating out. We ate several times at the PIC (using a discount coupon) and enjoyed it very much. Good luck to all of the employees! Hope you find a new job real soon. The PIC closed it doors in the same fashion as Bugaboo Creek did. Pretty rotten that they didn't get notice too. I wish all well!

I am getting tired of seeing all of these empty buildings and vacant lots around town. 38 is a complete eyesore. Why aren't businesses opening stores in these lots? Are Tewksbury's prices too high? Are we denying requests to potential businesses? It's been like this for awhile, not just the past few months.

It is an absolute shame about the closing of the pub. Having worked in the restaurant buisness for years I can tell you it's an impossiblity to tell staff or management the doors are closing until the day of. Imagine if your boss told you there was a chance you'd be laid off in a month/week/day or two. It would make work terrible and impossible. As hard as it is to swallow, especially for the long timers at the pub, it is how the restaurnat world works.

On the upside, I give nothing to Kudos to the management and staff over the past couple of months. I don't know if I'm just easy-going but, I bring my mother in for lunch and dinner a couple of times a month and I have had nothing but great service and good food which had seemed to be declining slowly. The staff was always smiling, the place was decorated for holidays and the lights in the dining room made it feel warm and cozy instead dark and cave like. I can also say that I've had the opportunity to meet mike, mel and danielle whom are all very friendly and nice.

That area of 38 is losing it's luster after all of these years. The plaza behind the Pic has dwindled down to two stores? It's a terrible loss after 25+ years and I know my mom and I will miss it, and all of it's employees.

The management DIDNT no the Pub was going to close. If you talk to other people in this line of business you will see this is the way it is usually done. No notice! It doesnt make it right. It is so sad to see all of the Pic People gone. So many people are effected by this in so many different ways. Scotty it is so typical of you to complain. You were always a really nice guy, but really never knew when enough was enough. We all know who ran the Pub into the ground and it wasn't the team you refered to. We were all hard workers, we were a family, we spent day in and day out with each other. And just like you Scotty we had our regulars that we will miss so very much. We tried so hard to keep it a float, but times are tough all the way around. Don't point fingers at the our management team just because they didnt give you your way. Put on your big boy pants and be honest because YOU more than anyone knows who sunk the Pub!! To all the people I have worked with I love you all and wish you only the very best. I am going to miss all of you. To the customers regulars or not we are going to miss you. Some of the people that came into the Pub to eat saw us more than they saw their own children. We cared about these people, we laughed with them, we cried with them, and we sang Happy Birthday to alot of them. Put the blame where it belongs and it's not with our team. This was awful for everyone involved. Dont add salt to the wound, You are not making it easier on anyone!!!

The economy first off. Come on everyone is struggling. Lets face it these are not very good times finacially. Second, when Danielle came in as GM to our store was NOT doing well at all. We were in the red BAD! Danielle, Michael, Melanie, and the rest of the staff helped in pulling OUR restaurant together. We as a team worked our asses off to make the numbers turn around. It wasn't easy by any means, not for any of us. But, we all worked together and we did it. We got the numbers up but it just wasnt enough. Who cares about the food, the prices, or who was managing the place. We as a team worked really hard and we should all be very proud of what we did. I think it is really sad to see things end this way and it is even sadder to see how everyone has been effected by this . We had single moms who worked with us, we had people that had a spouse at home unable to work or unable to find work, we had families that counted on that restaurant making it. I dont think anyone planned on this happening. But lets give credit where credit is due. Our numbers where so bad in the beginning. Danielle posted those numbers weekly on a board for all of us to see. And when we needed improvement they, we as a team did what we had to do to make it work. Its to bad all of our hard work has to be questioned.

I don't doubt that this is a major hardship for people. But to say "who cares about the food, the prices or the management" is very shortsighted. My family was spending money weekly there, until things started to slip. Sure, the economy is bad, but people who do have a few extra bucks are not going to go someplace where their take out order is consistently wrong week after week. Bottom line, someone has to be responsible for that, and it's usually the management. I don't know anyone personally over there, so I don't have anything personal against them, but that's part of a boss' job - to be responsible for the whole operation - good or bad. I hope things start to turn around in this town soon, because we just keep adding to the unemployment rolls and the building vacancy rates. I hope your friends find positions soon.

Sorry to see the Pub close. Having been many times I will miss the place and I feel sorry for the people who worked there. I think some of it is the fault of the economy. I never had a problem with the help there, I thought they did everything they could to make it a pleasant experience, and what I saw most worked very hard. I will say that I thought the food wasn't as good as it once was, and the quantity and quality plus the price was their problem. It was a very friendly place, I will miss it.

i am not gonna blame anyone....my kids loved to go there...and the place will be missed...i do feel bad for the workers...we were always welcomed there with a smile! good luck to all....

You people seem to love the picadilly. Maybe that is where the problem stems. If it is anything like the one in Waltham then you should all be saying good riddens. I drive through that town enough to know that you need to move on. Get rid of the crap and get on with the future. Build, cut down, grow... Do what it takes and stop whining. If you dont like the taxes dont complain about the town, move to NH. Welcome to taxachusetts. Were you not born here? Tewksbury has been in decline since before I can remember. Maybe if you get rid of all the awful establishments holding you back the town will start to do well again.

That plaza where the Pic is is almost totally vacant !!!!! Rte 38 is an absolute mess !!! Business dropping like flies !!!! How about the old Purity Supreme store further up on 38 ? That place has been vacant since for 30 yrs maybe ? Why ? I'm sure the Sewer rates for one have something to do with it . How about the town trying to woo some franchises ( Olive Garden for example )into town so that the tax burden will be distributed evenly as opposed to the residents of this town getting the " shaft " with all the increases ? Change starts in the town administrators . When will people starting waking up and voting these incumbents out of town offices ? Wake up people !!!!

I worked there 11 years along with an amazing staff and management when it first opened. My son also worked there at one time too. The people that worked there were more like family then just co-workers. I made beautiful friendships with all of them. You can't tell me that the "owners" didn't know....sorry for all of you that were working there (Carol) and the others that I didn't get a chance to meet Good luck to all of you in your new ventures. i loved going to the piccadilly pub in tewksbury. the food was great, the service was great, and the prices were great. it stinks that they had to close=(

You people have no one to blame but your selves. Why is Wilmington crowding in business on Rt 38 when a mere mile up the road its beginning to look like Tewksbury is slowly dieing? The road is in horrible condition, The town is filthy and you take your life in your hands walking along the "sidewalks". All over town there are junk cars and unkempt property....who is enforcing the state and town codes? YOU are the residents and if you sit in your house and do nothing and demand nothing then that's what you get. Start calling the town officials and demand the town gets cleaned up, fixed and improved. There has to be a reason the nest town down Main St is attracting so much new business and Tewksbury is losing it all?????

Hi, I live in Lowell, which has its own issues lol, I can only add I went here once probably 2 years ago, and I didn't think this place had much going for it and it was a matter of time before it went under. The location is awful, the food was soaked in too much cheese with a very bad menu, and the decor was less then new. It looked very dirty, has did the surroundings. I thought it needed a rescue from the 1980's. And that's just a honest opinion of a foodie.
Have been to many restaurants all over New England, I don't think there was a effort made , a honest effort, to revamp this place by management. It needed a serious update right down to the sign outside. I don't think its right to blame the economy, people go out to eat.... a lot... Good restaurants are always packed in any economy, route 38 is a eyesore in areas. Its all about a town making u feel welcome, everything has a cause and effect, I think Tewksbury needs to make a serious effort to cut out the blight in areas like this, has it would go a long way in helping its own economy, and the economy of it's local buisness. Its hard to compete with areas like the pheasant lane mall or the burlington mall which are close, which is something that has to be considered. Where there is a will there's a way, I don't think there was any will, very similar to the Novel Cafe closing.

It isn't poor business practice as much as poor economy and social circumstance. The Pub was a mediocre restaurant, so can't blame the owners for selling out. They couldn't survive the so-so economy. The only establishments that thrive are the high-end restaurants like Flemings or Ruth's Chris, and the low-end chains like McD's ... middle of the roads like the Pub and Friendly's won't do so well, because their customer base is the middle class, which is unprotected.
