Dandi-Lyons Employee In Fair Condition After Being Struck By Car

Victim was crossing Route 38 after getting out of work.

An employee of Dandi-Lyons flower and ice cream shop is listed in fair condition at a Boston hospital after being struck by a car Wednesday evening.

David Harrington, 30, had just left work and was crossing Route 38 when he was hit by a vehicle at around 6:15 p.m., according to an article in the Lowell Sun.

Harrington sustained serious injuries and was transported by Med-flight to Beth Israel Hospital. As of 12 p.m. he was listed in fair condition.

A section of Route 38 in South Tewksbury was shut down for a time after the accident.

According to Deputy Police Chief John Voto, charges have not been filed as yet against the driver of the vehicle that struck Harrington and no citations have been issued. A State Police accident reconstruction team is leading the investigation into the cause of the accident.

There is no crosswalk where the accident took place.

Dandi-Lyons is owned by state Rep. James Lyons, R-Andover, who was recently elected to represent Tewksbury Wards 3 and 3A under the legislative redistricting plan.

Doesn't mean he was using it. I tried going down Main Street that night, the road was closed at that crosswalk, the accident was indeed a couple hundred feet down the road in front of dandilions, judging by the many many police car lights.

I didn't know Mr. Harrington, but I wish him good luck on his recovery. Get back on your feet real soon! One side note, anyone that is out at night and crossing anywhere on Main Street should wear light or reflective clothing. My experience is that a lot of the people crossing any road at night and wearing black clothing cannot be easily seen until you are on top or near them.

I hate when people make comments when they don't know what they are talking about. You weren't there how would you know if he used the crosswalk or not, he got thrown 40 feet after being hit by a speeding car, the entire road was closed off. Also, he was wearing a red vest! Please keep your comments to yourself this is a family member. You sound ignorant.
