Fox25 Crew Zips Into Tewksbury for a Visit

Boston morning news team airs show live from the 01876.

Fox 25 Morning News descended on Tewksbury for a "Zip Trip" on Friday, and residents turned out on the Town Common in large numbers to greet the TV personalities and show New England what makes their community so special.

The crowd, estimated at well over 1,000, provided an enthusiastic backdrop, as the Fox 25 crew spoke to local officials, such as Todd Johnson, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, and shined a spotlight on several local businesses and agencies.

"I think this was a great event," said Ron Hall, a member of the town's Budget Committee and Patriotic Activities Committee. "It gave us a chance to show off some of our Tewksbury Pride. People got the chance to see why Tewksbury is such a  great community."

David Falanga, a daily viewer of Fox 25 Morning News, came to the broadcast with his son and two nieces.

"We wanted to come to help promote the community, show enthusiasm for the community," said Falanga. "We wanted to help promote the local businesses and mostly to have fun."

Fun was plentiful on the common Friday, as was food. Fox 25 provided an opportunity to shine a light on several Tewksbury's restaurants. On-air personalities Doug Goudie, Kim Carrigan and Cindy Fitzgibbon tasted dishes prepared by local establishments, such as Luna Rosa, Tewksbury Country Club, and French's. Each restaurant was featured in a short segment.

"Fox gave us a call asked if we wanted to participate and here we are," said David DiCenso, co-owner of Luna Rosa. "Publicity is always a good thing.  We've been in town 12 years, but it's great to get out here and remind people who we are."

Other features included segments on T.H.E. Farm ad local designer Jessica DiPietro.

Resident Cindy Tovey said she was thrilled to have Fox 25 visit Tewksbury and felt the visit was long overdue.

"We're big fans; we watch every day," said Tovey, who attended the event with her daughter. "We finally got them here. We're always asking, 'when are they going to do a Zip Trip to Tewksbury?' and they finally did."

Several other local businesses, including TD Bank, Enterprise Bank and the Lodge at Ames Pond, set up booths on the common. The Fox 25 "Zip Trip" series is sponsored by Dunkin' Donuts, which also had a booth.

It was really nice to see Mico Kaufman interviewed for the zip-trip. He is a true treasure for our town, and one of my personal favorites!
