Girls Hockey Team One Win From Semifinal Berth
The Tewksbury-Metheun girls hockey team is the final squad remaining with Tewksbury High School students in the postseason.
And then there was one.
The final Tewksbury team remaining in the postseason skates on Monday night, hoping to continue what's been a surprising run deep into the Division 2 bracket.
The Methuen-Tewksbury girls hockey team thumped Norwell, 10-3, in the preliminary round, cruised past Canton, 7-3, in the first round, and next faces off against Gardner in the quarterfinals.
Gardner opened with a preliminary round bye before it edged Burlington, 2-1, in a shootout.
Monday's quarterfinal round is scheduled for 7:15 p.m. inside Watertown's Ryan Rink. The winner will take on either top-seeded Duxbury or No. 8 Archbishop Williams in the Division 2 semifinal round.
The Methuen-Tewksbury playoff run has been an impressive one, especially given the team's No. 20 seed.
Check back with Tewksbury Patch for an update on Monday night's game.

Amazing team! But if they make the NHL they will still make 40% less than any male player

Elias, don't be an ignorant mong. They will never make it to the NHL. It is a men's league. And for all those righteous women lovers out there, it is not sexist. Women don't play in the NBA either. They have their own self degrading worthless league where they get paid 40% less. It's called the WNBA.

Elias .. Instead of seeing what a great opportunity this has been for the girls you have to see only a negative.
Congrats to you girls and I hope continued success in the tournament as well as in the future

John - don't take it personally. "Miles," "Elias," and their other noms de plume are soiling several Patch discussions at once. Best to ignore them.
