Gym Owner Ready to Host Zumba for a Breast Cancer Cure
Zumba for a Cure on Friday night will give residents the chance to raise money for the Avon Breast Cancer Walk.
Jennifer Stacey enjoys when her customers at Live Life Fitness leave for the day with a sense of accomplishment.
On Friday, the Tewksbury resident will have the chance to see plenty of clients heading out the door having accomplished something for themselves, but this time there will be a benefit for others as well.
Live Life Fitness is hosting “Zumba for a Cure,” a fundraising effort that will assist a local woman currently fighting breast cancer who hopes to raise enough money to participate in an upcoming Avon Walk for Breast Cancer event.
“The cause motivates me to do more,” Jennifer said. “It’s a fun night, it’s for a good cause and it’s a chance to get people together to raise money and maybe become a little more aware that cancer is everywhere and we have to help in any way we can.”
Doors open at 7 p.m. for the event, which costs $15. Classes are optional, but included, and tickets purchased in advance will be entered into a special drawing that evening.
In addition to the fitness classes, there are also about 12 vendors signed up to participate along with between 20 and 25 raffles for a variety of items that will be given away.
Jennifer said these type of events are the main reason she opened her business at 66 Concord St., Unit F, in Wilmington.
“I find it exciting to give the space, my time, the classes, everything I can, and not ask for anything in return,” she said. “That’s one of the reasons I opened my own place was to do things like this and not have to run the idea by anyone else. It’s reall rewarding.”
To purchase tickets to Friday’s event, contact Jennifer by e-mail, or call Annie at (508) 574-9716.
According to the Live Life Fitness owner, the event is another example of Wilmington residents stepping up to support one of their own.
“It’s a very family oriented town,” said Jennifer. “People really help each other out.”

Is there any chance to recruit the Zumba instructor from Kennebunkport? I'm sure she would do wonders for the fundraising efforts provided there are no lists involved.
