Hess Closing Its Gas Stations

The company will instead focus on oil production and exploration.

Hess has announced it's closing its gas stations, including one in Tewksbury, and will focus on “exploration and production,” according to media sources on Monday.

Recently, Elliott Management, one of the company’s largest shareholders, "accused the board of ‘poor oversight,’ and said that the company’s management was responsible for more than a ‘decade of failures,’” reported the Associated Press.

The closings will include the Hess Station at 1910 Andover St., Tewksbury.

Many of the stations are owned by Hess rather than franchises, reported AP. No timetable has been announced for the closings.

This is a sad day for our children who love to get their Hess vehicle every year @ Christmas!

Amy, I'm sure you will still be able to get them via the Hess website. Everybody has a website these days.

I doubt it will take long to fill in that spot with another station, it's a great spot.

I am bummed - Hess was one of the few gas stations left that provided FREE air filling service. It kills me to pay for air!
