Hidden Generators, Drug Arrest And Drunken Driving
The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
A resident walking along a patch in the woods off 137 MacLaren Road made an unusual find on Thursday.
Tewksbury Police say the resident called them at 4:48 p.m. to report finding two generators partially covered up. The person told police that they walk in that area frequently and had not not seen the generators while they were walking the day before.
Officers responded to the scene and removed the generators. Information was not immediately available as to whether the generators are connected to any reported crime in the area.
Motor vehicle stop leads to drug arrest (July 21)
A New Hampshire man faces drug charges, following a motor vehicle stop on Elm Avenue on Thursday, just after 4 p.m. The officer making the stop called in detectives and a K-9 unit and a search was done of the vehicle operated by Melvyn Fermin, 25, 16 Royal Crest Drive, Apt. 4, Nashua, NH.
As a result of the search, Fermin was charged with possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute. Two passengers with Fermin were not arrested and were transported by taxi back to New Hampshire.
Driver allegedly lies to police officers (July 21)
A motor vehicle stop on Route 495 near the Route 38 exit led to an arrest Thursday, just before 7 p.m. Edwin Santos Maldanado, 35, 15 Garfield St., in Lawrence, was pulled over for erratic driving. A k-9 unit and detectives were called to the scene.
As a result of the investigation, Maldanado was charged with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, being an operator of a motor vehicle who gave a false name to police officers and, after having been arrested, being an arrestee who gave a false name and social security number to police officers.
Break in on Pratt Road (July 22)
A homeowner at 23 Pratt Road called police Friday at 8 a.m. to report that his garage had been broken into overnight. The resident reported that some small items were stolen.
Other arrests:
Robert Polcaro Jr., 51, 15 Ellington St., Tewksbury, was arrested Thursday, July 21, at 1:16 a.m. and charged with OUI-liquor 2nd offense and failure to stop or yield.
Christina M. Cozzone, 36, 49 Wamesit St. Apt. 1, Lowell, was arrested Wednesday, July 20, at 2:35 a.m. and charged with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving a motor vehicle with its registration revoked, driving an uninsured motor vehicle, driving without a valid inspection sticker and failure to wear a seat belt.
