Home Sales Up, Prices Down In Tewksbury
Sales are up for the fourth straight month across the state.
Homes sales in Tewksbury have risen sharply over the past year, those prices continue to slump, according to information released by The Warren Group, Publishers of Banker & Tradesman and The Commercial Record.
According to statistics provided, 21 homes sold in April in Tewksbury. That's up 50 percent over April 2011. Through the first four months of 2012, 69 homes have been sold in Tewksbury. That's up 25.5 percent over the same time period a year ago.
Those numbers are in line with homes sale statistics across Massachusetts. Home sales in the Bay State have jumped four months in a row, according to The Warren Group.
The news is not so good for sellers, however, when it comes to prices. The median price for a home sold in Tewksbury during the first four months of 2012 was $264,900. That's down nearly 10 percent over the same period from a year ago.
Across the state, the median sale price increased by just over 1 percent in April, making the first increase in seven months.

I think we need to get our priorities straight. Schools is the most important point when someone looks for house. We thought of fixing HS after we were done with Sever, road,Senior Center...
Its funny I came across people who oppose 20$ increase for a beautiful athletic facility because they could not afford and the same bunch was excited for some ice-cream shop coming to the town ( I personally welcome the both).

bk, don't start this discussion again with the "Athletic Facility". Nobody said that it will never come. The new HS is now almost ready and the education should get better, I think? Time will tell. We will see how much better test scores get now that a new surrounding for the students is built. Again, time will tell. The Athletic Facility has nothing to do with an Ice Cream shop coming to town. The $20 increase does not sound what it would actually cost us in the long run.

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream, and lower taxes, and less frivolous spending by elected town officials who may or may not have their own agenda. people do research before buying a house. If they find out that Wilmington has a surplus While Tewksbury can barely afford to pay attention. What town would they choose? How is that new town hall coming? That should raise our property values..... shouldn't it?

With the way the town has been spending money lately and some town folks voting to raising our taxes to pay for it, No wonder why family's are leaving. With the low price of purchasing a home and taxes are based on the value of home, I would plan on taxes being raised again within the near future to cover the towns expenses! I guess their goes our tax exemptions break when all the buildings are paid off such as the police station and Library within the next 5-7 years, maybe it is time to move on and find a town that offers more services for less or the same tax money paid
