Memorial Day 2011.

 

Under sunny skies and with somber hearts, Tewksbury remembered its heroes on Memorial Day.

A Memorial Service at the Tewksbury Cemetery attracted a few hundred residents. That was followed by a rousing parade in front of thousands who lined Route 38.

The guest speaker for the service was Chief Master Sargent Laura Noel. Also speaking were Sen. Scott Brown, Congresswoman Niki Tsongas, state Sen. Barry Finegold, state Rep. Paul Adams, state Rep. Jim Miceli and Todd Johnson, chairman of the Board of Selectmen.

In addition, Larry and Sandy Polimeno were honored for their service to the community.

Editor Bill Gilman was on hand at the captured these images and video clips from the event. Included are photos of the "Never Forget" display of 5,000 flags in front of the Assembly of God Church on Andover Street.
