UPDATED: Miano, Marcin File Papers For Selectmen's Race
Sullivan takes out papers at 11th hour to challenge Reed for Planning Board seat.

With the deadline nearing to file nomination papers, things are changing rapidly and getting very interesting with the Tewksbury Municipal Election.
Two more races have officially become contested and two more may be right around the corner.
Ken Miano and Robert Marcin have each returned nomination papers this week to officially launch campaigns for seats on the Board of Selectmen. They will be challenging incumbents David Gay and Scott Wilson.
Ed Sullivan, who ran unsuccessfully for selectman in 2011, took out papers again this year. However, earlier today, Sullivan took out a second set of nomination papers -- this time for a seat on the Planning Board. The move appears to indicate that Sullivan has shifted objectives and will now challenge incumbent Planning Board Chairwoman Nancy Reed.
A phone message and email message left for Sullivan were not immediately returned.
Another race now officially contested is the race for a seat on the Shawsheen Tech School Committee. Longtime incumbent Peter Downing returned his nomination papers this week and he will look to fend off a challenge from former Tewksbury School Committee Chairman Michael Kelley.
The first in a series of political surprises this week took place on Wednesday, when Lyndsay Robinson took out nomination papers in the race for two available seats on the Tewksbury School Committee. Robinson was the 2010 Valedictorian at Shawsheen Tech and is present a student at St. Anselm.
If Robinson can return her nomination papers in time, she will join incumbent Dennis Francis and challenger Jamey Cutelis in a three-way race for the two seats.
Candidates must return nomination papers with the signatures of 50 certified registered voters not later than 5 p.m. on Feb. 27, at the Town Clerk’s Office, Town Hall, 1009 Main St.
Town Clerk office hours are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, 8:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

jo --- re-read the piece. You may be confusing the Shaw Tech board with the Tewksbury board. The three candidates listed for Tewksbury board are incumbent Dennis Francis, challenger Jamey Cutelis and possible challenger Lyndsey Robinson, who took out papers this week.

At St. Anselm, Robinson is President of the Class of 2014; President of the Student Government Association; and President of the Student Ambassador Program. At Shawsheen Tech, Robinson was Valedictorian, Class President; and National Honor Society President. She is currently the President (post-secondary division) of the Business Professionals of America. http://www.bpa.org/information/officers Her list of accomplishments goes on and on... I think it's GREAT to see YOUNG residents getting involved in town government.

I hope people "get" the tremendous amount of work it takes to be a knowledgeably effective Planning Board member....it is truly a daunting task that not just 'anyone' can step into the position without some sort of solid background in the understanding of the processes involved.
