(Each week, this column will shine a well-deserved spotlight on a Tewksbury Hero -- a man or woman presently serving in the armed services, either overseas or in the United States.)

Our latest Tewksbury Hero is Marine Lance Cpl. David J. Giasullo.

He is presently serving his country on a tour of duty in Afghanistan.

Lance Cpl. Giasullo enlisted in the Marine Corps shortly after graduating from Tewksbury High in 2008, following in the footsteps of his father and brother. The latter recently returned from serving in Iraq.

While in high school, Giasullo was a multi-sport athlete, participating in football, wrestling, basketball and lacrosse.

Lance Cpl. Giasullo is the son of James and Kelley Giasullo. His family also includes brothers Bob and Mike and sister Jamie.
