LETTER: Food Pantry Official Thanks Lions Club

Fraternal organization made $7,500 donation.

To the Editor:

The Tewksbury Community Pantry board of directors wants to express its appreciation to the Tewksbury Lions’ Club for their most recent $7,500.00 donation.  This most generous donation comes at a critical time and will help support the many individuals and families that currently rely on the pantry.  Our pantry is now serving over 200 households each month.  This is an all time high and reflects a difficult economy.  Thanks to our generous community in general, and the Tewksbury Lions’ Club in particular, we are proud that we have never had to turn any Tewksbury resident in need away for lack of resources.  That is a credit to our entire Tewksbury community.  It is a sad reality that other communities are not as fortunate.

The Tewksbury community should also know that the Tewksbury Lions’ Club has been a long and steady supporter of our local pantry.  Over the past ten years, the Lions have now quietly donated over $40,000 to our volunteer community effort without fanfare.  Without reliable and consistent support from the Lions, and other civic organizations, the pantry would not be able to meet the monthly food supply needs of those we serve.  The pantry is pleased to consider the Tewksbury Lions’ Club a partner in our ongoing effort to assist those less fortunate in Tewksbury and we are most grateful for their most recent donation during these challenging economic times.

Sincerely,

Todd Johnson
