LETTER: Reward Offered For Return Of Stolen Dune Buggy
Vehicle was stolen Thursday from in front of a home on Jennies Way.
To the Editor:
On Jennies Way in Tewksbury, this week, someone claimed possession of my 10 year old son's go cart / dune buggy.
I would like to offer a cash reward for the return of the pictured dune buggy, and a larger reward to information that leads to the prosecution of the person who took this.
Please note the dune buggy is a two seater (I believe the only one in Town) and it has unussual shaped head lights. There is damage to one front fender and one rear fender is missing. The rear taillight works, but the plastic covering is missing. The dune buggy is one year old.
This was stolen out of our driveway without the key (still in our possession). The dune buggy is sized for a large children / small adults. It is a 125cc. 3 speeds & reverse transmission. The gear shift is on the left, as is the steering wheel. The gas and brake pedals are in the middle.
It is a black frame with mostly red and some black on the seats and two seatbelts. It was "made in china", so the make of it is not listed anywhere on it. The police have further identifiable information.
Without trying to sound enfeebled, please understand that I can not replace this. My son, who is going through a very difficult time, truly enjoys this machine and is devastated by it being missing.
PLEASE, if you have any information, contact the Tewksbury Police Department at (978) 851-7373. Please leave your name and a contact number as well to receive the reward if it is found, however you can stay anonymous if you prefer.
If the go cart is returned by the person responsible, or a friend or family of that person, charges will not be filed. We just really want to have it back.

Is this legal for your child to be driving ? on the streets ? I would think a person needs a license.

Really? The kids go cart was stolen that he treasured and your criticizing the parents when you didn't even know where he drove the go cart. Let me guess your kids ride their bikes on the lawn with football helmets on?

Jennifer, just read this posting. So sorry that your son has lost his dune buggy. I know what a shock it is to have something stolen from your yard. One of our sons had an X15 stolen many years ago. Believe me we never left anything out in the yard again! Lets hope that everyone will keep eyes open and it can be recovered.

Kristen, my son never drives it on the street. We are lucky enough to live on a farm and he drives it on the farm only, but I agree with your concern. Karen, thank you, but it was taken after the weekend. Kathleen, it is a very hard lesson learned, I took it out of the garage for a friend to work on it, but ended up in the hospital for a bit, so didn't know it was gone until Thursday afternoon. Hopefully it will be recovered!

Just as well.... that thing had a broken brake light and was an accident waiting to happen. The kid will get over it.

The dune buggy has been returned! Overnight, last night, someone left the dune buggy on our farm field. I am very thankful for the return of it, as my son is over the moon this morning. Thank you to everyone for looking, I appreciate all the help and hope I can help you in the future! :)

I was not criticizing in any way. I thought something with an engine needs to be driven with a valid permit or drivers license. There is no need for a negative comment addressed to me as I read above.
