Lowell Man Charged With Kidnapping, Assault

A Lowell man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly holding a woman against her will and assaulting her in a Tewksbury motel.
Cory Convey, 25, of 82 Walker St., was arrested at 5 a.m. Tuesday at Motel 6 and was charged with assault and battery, kidnapping, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and intimidating a witness.
According to the police report, the incident began when a clerk from Motel 6 called, saying he had received a call from Room 218. According to the clerk, it sounded like a female was calling for help, but that a hand or something else was covering her mouth, muffling her voice.
Officers responded to the scene and found Convey and the alleged victim. According to the police report, officers had to subdue Convey is order to place him into custody.
Convey later complained of leg pain and was taken to Saints Medical Center for treatment before being returned to Tewksbury Police Headquarters.
Teen arrested for assault (Aug. 29)
A 16-year-old was arrested for assault and battery just before 7 p.m. on Monday, after police received a call regarding a possible domestic disturbance on Leicester Street.
Man flees motel, arrested for OUI (Aug. 28)
Officers arrested a Lowell man after he drove away from Motel 6 rather than talk to police.
A detail officer working near the motel called in what he believed to be suspicious activity at 12:40 a.m. Sunday. When backup arrived, Juan Antonio Huertas, 20, 50 Pleasant St., Lowell, allegedly hopped in a car and fled the scene. He was finally pulled over and, after a brief investigation, was arrested. He was charged with OUI-liquor, failure to stop for police and speeding.
Underage drinking initiative yields arrest (Aug. 25)
The Tewksbury Police Department's initiaitive to battle underage drinking resulted in an arrest on Thursday. Robert Sockol, 19, 25 Hearthstone Place, Andover, was arrested at Oakdale Liquors and charged with being under 21 in possession of alcohol and being under 21 buying alcohol.
