I like the "wolf on a leash" story. If it makes whoever called it in feel any better, a neighbor of mine had a brother visiting his house with his Husky. The Husky pulled away and took off running, while still wearing the leash, and was found about 2 hours later. I live a few street over from where the sighting took place.

Outstanding Shaun! You may have solved a mystery. As the former owner of siberian husky that used to be mistaken for a wolf (and present owner of a Great Pyranees sometimes mistaken for a Polar Bear cub), that seems plausible to me.
