Movies at the Library or Walking in the Woods

Fun events for the entire family.

Screen a movie at the library, take a walk in the woods, and see if hockey is the sport for you — pick and choose from this week’s array of events.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

 

MOVIES AT THE LIBRARY

Where/When:  February 22, 2-4 p.m., or 5:45-7:45 p.m.,Tewksbury Public Library

Why Go: Take in a family matinee or a must-see movie at the Tewksbury Public Library on Tuesday. In the afternoon, from 2-4 p.m., take in a screening of “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” starring Nicolas Cage. This live action feature is rated PG. Or the must-see movie “Waiting for Superman” will begin at 5:45 p.m. sharp. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. These are both drop-in events, no registration or tickets are required. Moviegoers may bring their own snacks.

• POTTY TRAINING YOUR PRESCHOOLER

Where/When: February 17, 6:30-7:30 p.m., 139 Pleasant St., Tewksbury

Why Go: Because battling with your preschooler about potty training is emotionally and physically draining! Child Development Specialist Donna Gorman will host a discussion for parents about potty training your preschooler. Come and hear proven tips on learning what to do and what not to do to transition successfully.

• IS HOCKEY THE SPORT FOR YOU

Where/When: February 19, 4-6 p.m. Micro Ice Training Centers of America, 65 Flagship Drive, North Andover

Why Go: Kids ages four to nine can see if hockey is their sport. Micro Ice Training Centers of America is holding a ‘try hockey free day.’ Participants will partake in a USA hockey clinic, and receive a goody bag and USA hockey jersey. As an added bonus, the Boston Bruins mascot Blades will be on hand to skate and take pictures with all of the players.

Pricing: Totally free!

 

WALK THE WOODS AT HAROLD PARKER STATE FOREST

Where/When: Wednesdays, 10-11:30 a.m., Harold Parker State Forest, 305 Middleton Road, North Andover

Why Go: Incorporate exercise into your family routine. Stop by the Harold Parker State Forest on Wednesday mornings for a moderately-paced walk that is appropriate for all ages.

Pricing: Free!

 

PETTING ZOO AT SHRINERS AUDITORIUM

Where/When: February 19, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and February 20, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Shriners Auditorium, 99 Fordham Road, Wilmington

Why Go: Bring the kids to Shriners Auditorium this weekend and pet some animals at an indoor petting zoo. There will also be some amusement and animal rides, as well as games.

Pricing:  Admission is $10 for adults; $7.99 for children
