September is a time for change. The weather begins to cool, leaves starts to change and students begin a new grade.
At the Loella F. Dewing Elementary School it’s not only the young students who will be making a change. This year, the school will also have a new face, Paul Galello, in the principal’s office.
With degrees in both Communications and Educational Leadership, Galello brings with him a solid background in education. The recent classes and workshops he has completed have been geared toward both classroom teaching and administration.
A classroom teacher for 10 years, Gallello taught at both the Peter Fitzpatrick Elementary School in Pepperell as well as the John McCarthy Elementary School in Peabody.
Galello’s career in administration began in Winchendon, when he took over as Assistant Principal at the Toy Town Elementary School, a grades 4 to 6 building.
From there, he became the Lead Teacher/Assistant Principal and, eventually, Acting Principal at The John MCarthy Elementary School in Peabody. There, Galello headed up a Pre K to grade 5 Program.
Most recently, Galello served as Building Principal at the Brookside Elementary School in Dracut serving grades K through 4.
On August 30 Galello will officially take the helm at the Loella F. Dewing Elementary School and a new school year will be officially underway.

Oh god help us. Just found out from a bunch of friends in Dracut that they hated this prinicpal. The parents were trying to get rid of him. I wish the committee that picked him talked to the parents of the school in Dracut.

I don't know much about this man, but I am disheartened to see the first comment is a negative one and not a first hand experience. I would love to see this community give the man a chance. Let's not pass judgment before the kids have even stepped foot in the building. I for one, am looking forward to a successful school year! Good luck Mr. Galello!

I heard that some parents from that school in Dracut didn't like his stricter rules for the school. I heard that he is fair and definitely not a pushover. He holds himself, teachers, kids, parents accountable. He doesn't play favorites.

I agree with you Mary. Give the man a chance to prove himself!
Best of luck and hope you have a great year at the Dewing Mr. Galello!

Yes, please give him a chance. I wrote him a letter and got a personal phone call from him - talk about a great first impression! I'm positive he will be great for the Dewing!!!
