Pedestrian Injured When Struck By Car On Main Street

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

A female pedestrian was injured Tuesday night when struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross Route 38 in the vicinity of the Ninety-Nine Restaurant.

According to Tewksbury Police, the accident took place around 8:15 p.m. The pedestrian, whom police described as being a female in her 40s, was wearing dark clothing, which made it difficult to be seen. She was also crossing in an area where there is no crosswalk.

The vehicle involved in the accident was driven by a female, who stopped immediately after striking the pedestrian. While the cause the accident remains under investigation, no citations have been issued.

According to police, the woman who was struck was taken to Lahey Clinic in Burlington for treatment of significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

The accident shut down Route 38 for about 45 minutes.

Arrests:

Daniel E. Cawley, 23, 25 Mount Joy Road, Tewksbury, was arrested on Aug. 29 on a warrant.

Bernadette McKay, 50, 14 Lakeview Ave. #B1, Lynn, was arrested on Aug. 29 on a warrant.

John D. Gallinaro, 49, 14 Lake St., Billerica, was arrested on Aug. 28, on a warrant.

To be fair I have been almost hit many times when using crosswalks.....yelled at, cars have swerved around me, and at least 15 cars pass by before I can cross (including police) when waiting at a crosswalk.

Just to point out it's Lahey Clinic NOT Lehay Clinic as you mostly post whenever an incident is brought up that requires transport to that Medical Center
