PHOTOS: Veterans Day 2011 In Tewksbury
Tewksbury celebrates its heroes, past and present.
Several hundred residents turned out Friday as Tewksbury celebrated its heroes with the annual Veterans Day Services.
Veterans Agent Jim Williams served as emcee for the event, which featured speeches by several community leaders. The keynote address was offered by Army Major Stephen Flanagan, a Tewksbury native.
Flanagan is a highly decorated veteran, having earned, among other honors, two Bronze Stars during three combat tours in Iraq and another in Afghanistan.
Another notable speech was made by student Barrett Hodgson, who presented an essay on "What The Pledge of Allegiance Means To Me."
Also participating in the event were color guards from the Police and Fire Departments, students from the North Street School, the Swinging Seniors, local Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and the Tewksbury High Band.
The event was sponsored by the Friends of the Patriotic Activities Committee.
Editor Bill Gilman was on hand and captured these images.
