Police Nab Suspect In House Break

Call from "concerned citizen" leads to arrest of 20-year-old Tewksbury man in connection with at least one Nov. 4 break.

A 20-year-old Tewksbury man has been arrested in connection with at least one housebreak on Lowe Street last week.

Peter A. Martel, of 24 Wayside Road, was arrested on Wednesday by_ Tewksbury Police officers _and charged with Breaking and Entering, Breaking into a Depository (Safe) and Larceny over $250.

According to information supplied by _Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan,_ the arrest stems from incidents that too place on Nov. 4. According to Sheehan, received a call from a concerned citizen who stated that a suspicious vehicle had been in the area of Lowe Street for an extended period of time.

The caller was able to provide  a license plate and the vehicle came back as belonging to Martel.  Officers responded to Lowe Street but the vehicle left the area.

As part of their investigation, officers went to Martel's home and were told he was at a friend's house.

Later that same day, a homeowner on Lowe Street called Police and told them that their house was broken into and a safe had been removed from their residence.  Forced entry was gained through the front door.

According to Sheehan, officers conducted a thorough investigation into Martel’s whereabouts on Nov. 4  and he wound up confessing to the house break under questioning.

My heart goes out to the parents of these children who where raised properly and made poor decissions. To those of you who have had the good fortune to have "perfect" children, I say, it is good fortune only. We cannot control what decissions they make, but we sure do bare the brunt of them. Careful how you judge, you may have to eat your words someday, and you too will find out it had nothing to do with how you raised them. However, you will blame yourself and cringe at those who you know think like you!!!

Holly i agree with you 100% I always turn around and say you can never judge any other children because that may be yours someday. My heart does go out to the parents of these children cuz they do get the brunt of everything. For the one who says where are these parents children shame on you..I know plenty of kids who have grown up in a loving caring home and are very close to their parents but all it takes is for them to get involved with one wrong kid and it could all go down hill from there. Its not like this kid is a teenager he is a 20 year old man and should be put in jail for violating someones home..I know exactly how it feels to have your home violated by someone you trust. Its not a good feeling at all and I have no sympathy for the kid or kids who do it.
