UPDATED: Police Searching For Missing Tewksbury Teen

14-year-old boy has not been heard from since calling his father after school yesterday.

Tewksbury Police have issued a CodeRed Alert, as they search for a missing 14-year-old boy.

Anthony McNeil, an 8th grader at the Wynn School, has not been heard from since around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7.

According to Tewksbury Police, Anthony's father dropped him off at the Wynn School in the morning. After school, Anthony called his father, Dennis McNeil, at work from his home phone and told him he planned to walk over to the Livingston Street ball fields to watch the games and that he could be picked up around 5:30 p.m.

Police say Anthony's father made several trips to the Livingston Street Fields between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. but Anthony was not there.

Anthony is described as being 5-2, 120 pounds and Hispanic. He has last seen wearing dark jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt.

Police have established a command center at the Tewksbury Parks and Recreation Complex on Livingston Street. Dozens of Tewksbury Police officers and deputies from the Middlesex County Sheriff's Office have gathered to continue the search.

At this time, Police are NOT acepting volunteers from the public to participate in the search for Anthony. If that changes, that information will be passed along.

Anyone with information on Anthony's whereabouts or who might have seen him after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday June 7 is asked to call the Tewksbury Police Department at 978-851-7373 Ext. 0 or by calling 911.

I don't know how to reach them, but I think Robert Mills is probably the best to contact on something like this. He is the crime reporter and has Twitter.

From the DOJ website: "AMBER plans require law enforcement to confirm an abduction prior to issuing an alert. This is essential when determining the level of risk to the child. Clearly, stranger abductions are the most dangerous for children and thus are primary to the mission of an AMBER Alert. To allow activations in the absence of significant information that an abduction has occurred could lead to abuse of the system and ultimately weaken its effectiveness. At the same time, each case must be appraised on its own merits and a judgment call made quickly. Law enforcement must understand that a “best judgment” approach, based on the evidence, is appropriate and necessary." Basically, there has to be evidence he was abducted for an Amber Alert to be issued, if I'm not mistaken.

This does not fit in to the criteria of an amber alert, has to be a confirmed abduction and child must be at serious risk of injury or death also must be descriptive info on captor there are other criteria also unfortunately this situation (or mybe for the better) is not a amber alert situation

Are there any video cameras facing that road at Tewksbury Country Club that they can look through surveilance to see if the boy ever did go there? And possibly find out more? This is so sad. Please keep us all updated

If his father is who I think it is, then he'd have been coming from just off of Shawsheen about a half mile from 38. Forget the name of the street but its on your right as you're on Shawsheen approaching 38.
