Puccia Drops Out of School Committee Race
Brian Dick will now run unopposed for seat.
The April 2 ballot will have one less contest race on it.
Lisa Puccia officially withdrew from the race for a seat on the School Committee Monday, citing demands on her time that would not permit her to serve if elected.
Puccia, a mother of four, said she recently started back to work and presently serves on the Governor's Council on Autism.
"Right now, I just wouldn't have the time to commit to the demands that come with serving on the School Committee. This isn't the year to do it," she said.
Puccia's withdrawal leaves Brian Dick as the only candidate on the ballot in the race to succeed Michael Kelley, who has chosen not to seek reelection.
"I spoke with Brian and I shared with him some of my concerns and some of the issues that have been a priority with me," said Puccia. "I think he's going to do an excellent job."
Puccia ran unsuccessfully for a seat on the seat on the School Committe in 2010. She said she will continue to attend committee meetings and will remain active in school-related activities.
