Tewksbury has lost many businesses over the last several years. If you had the power, which one would you bring back?
Everyone agrees Tewksbury is going through a period of economic transition. New businesses are popping up but many have shut down or moved out over the last several years.
So our Question Of The Week is this -- If you had the power, which former Tewksbury business would you like to see come back and why?

There is a little place in the Oakdale Mall called perfectos. I have not eaten there but the bagels did look pretty good.

The Batting Cages, Miniature Golf, The Race Track and arcades (preferably pinball). Something that was good for all ages. Give me the money I have the drive to operate them. I would also add a "Snack Shack" there as well. Damn I miss the Snack Shack's great breakfast.

I also agree with Jack and caesd4 re a family fun place-ie Mel's up in Litchfield-what a GREAT place for family, kids, tweens, teens, adults....we have a lot of open space/vacant lots-someone with $ and such a plan, IMO would have great success here in our Town! (I also have always thought that a "Play it Again Sports"-would be a hit here-wish I had the $ for that franchise here myself!)

funland with the gaint slide,tew mac airport nothing like eating at mcdonalds watching the planes, wamesit drive-in, wamesit lanes, suzuki shop always like to look at what i couldn't have, the driving range try hitting the car collecting the balls. i guess anything back when tewksbury was a fun place to visit and hang out.

For nostalgia sake I would say Wamesit Bowling alley and Drive In.
In reality, for tax dollars I would bring back Avid Technology.

Wishful thinking that anything of substance would locate in Tewksbury. Very, very, sad. Sure Thermo Fisher has purchased and will renovate one of the abandoned Avid buildings. We foolishly voted to give them a tax break to go forward with their plans. They probably would have bought the building anyway. If anyone is a new hire from Tewksbury due to this relocation I would be amazed. Current employees in their Wilmington and Billerica locations would be foolish not to continue employment at the new location. Anything associated with the "Thermo" name makes money. It is in their DNA. If someone bought Thermo stock years ago they would be quite well-off now. We should have someone associated with Thermo running this town.

I don't think that the voters decision was foolish at Oct. STM.....the tax break incentive is on the millions they are planning to invest additionally.....the existing structures will be fully taxed. Plus it will be offset by the revenue it brings to the town over the years including surrounding businesses which will benefit from their employees and the trickle down effect. It's time the Town thinks/invests in long term planning rather than a scramble for a quick buck as in the past (think Mills/South St. cell tower) that rarely pays off and IMO, this proven solid background company fits that criteria

I did not say it was foolish for Thermo to relocate to Tewksbury. I said it was foolish for the Town to give money to a billion dollar company with deep pockets and outstanding profit history. They probably would have bought the building anyway.

Not necessarily, and I know what part you meant by foolish. Of course it's great that they relocated to our town, but it's more than likely sweetening the deal brought them on board. Currently I believe they had split divisions between Billerica and Wilmington, either town of which they "probably" could have consolidated their operations. Lucky for us Tewksbury took a proactive approach in landing the deal and I give utmost credit to all those who worked hard to make it happen including our Economic Development Committee, our Community Development Director and Town Manager Montuori.
