Redmen Fall to Wilmington on Last Minute Goal
The Wildcats scored with 1:38 to play in the third period to earn a 3-2 boys hockey win over Tewksbury.
The Tewksbury boys hockey team lost the game it looks forward to play all year. But the Redmen know that if they hope to return to the state championship game, there's a chance they may get the opportunity for revenge.
Wilmington used a goal with 1:38 left in the game to earn a 3-2 victory on Wednesday night. The game was the final one of the season for Tewksbury, which will find out its playoff position this weekend.
The Wildcats are widely considered the favorites to repeat in Division 2 this year, though the Redmen could have a say in that if the teams cross paths in the bracket.
“Tewksbury-Wilmington has a lot of history to it. You want to win these games. The kids get pumped up for it, the towns get pumped up for it and we do as coaches too,” said head coach Derek Doherty. “Unfortunately this year we lost, but we’ll keep our heads up and get ready for the state tournament.”
