Redmen Look to Play Spoilers Against Rangers

The Tewksbury Redmen (2-5) travel to Methuen Friday to take on the Methuen Rangers (6-1). Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Redmen are coming off a dramatic 44-41 Homecoming day loss to Lowell last Saturday. Junior running back Chris Bettano had a monster day running for 221 yards on 22 carries. Bettano also ran for two touchdowns on the day. Senior running back Anthony Arcari also added two scores for the Redmen.
Methuen has won six games in a row and is playing some of the best football in the state. Methuen is led by senior quarterback Cal Carroll and senior running back Ryan Savastano. They also sport one of the best offensive lines around.
Methuen defeated Andover last Friday night 21-14. Carroll had two touchdown passes on the night and ran for another.
Methuen defeated Tewksbury 20-7 last season as Carroll had two touchdown passes and one on the ground. Raudy Minaya also had two receiving touchdowns on the day.
Tewksbury looks to end a five game losing streak and Methuen is looking to extend their winning steak to seven. Tewksbury will need to control Methuen's offense, led by Carroll, that is averaging 28 points a game and over 30 in their wins.
