Redmen Roundup: Girls Lacrosse Splits Home and Home With Methuen

Boys lacrosse picks up key victory over Methuen.

The Tewksbury High girls lacrosse team played, what amounted to, a home-and-home series with Methuen High this week.

The Redmen came away with one of their strongest games of the season, followed by one of their more disappointing.

On Monday, Tewksbury put together a complete effort and rolled to a 14-5 road win over the Rangers. Scoring machine Melissa Peters added four more goals to her tally, giving her more than 100 for her career.

Taylor Lirakis and Ashley Kelley backed up Peters efforts with two goals each. Riley Ryan picked up the victory in net with eight saves.

The teams met again on Tuesday in Tewksbury but the result was far different. The Rangers took a 6-3 lead at halftime and exploded for 14 goals in the second half en route to a 20-12 win.

Tewksbury is now 3-10 on the season.

Boys Lacrosse

The Tewksbury High boys lacrosse team is picking up momentum with their eyes on the state tournament. The Redmen got three goals from Joey DiRusso to lead them to a 10-6 win over Methuen on Tuesday.

With the win, Tewksbury improved to 9-7 on the year. Brandon Hibner had another strong game for Tewksbury with a pair of goals and an assist. Zach Jacobs and Sean Foley also had two goals each for the Redmen.

Mike Brawley earned the victory in net with 11 saves.
