Silvia Leads Tewksbury U14 Past North Andover, 4-0
Farraher records the shutout in net.
On Tuesday at Turf Time in Tewksbury the TYSL GU14 girls team improved to 4-0 by defeating the Cyclones of North Andover by a score of 3-0.
KG (Kaleigh Gammon) scored early in this contest giving the locals a quick 1-0 lead. However, going into the half that was the only score in the game. Michelle Farraher kept the girls in the game with some key saves in the opening half.
In the second half the game remained close until Hannah Silvia scored the first of her goals on a pretty direct kick, Silvia also followed with another goal later in the game to round out the scoring.
The defense in this game was the key with Haley Aznavoorian (returning from an ankle injury) and Ashley Colarusso going the distance on defense and controlling the midfield. Gammon picked up where Farraher left off and completed the shut out for the locals. The offense was geared up and kept the ball from leaving the opponents end of the field. Karah Chaisson, Aria Porzio, Stephanie Travis and Caitlyn Leary all had scoring bids but remained on the attack.
The forwards really showed some guts in this one as 3 separate direct kicks were blocked at point blank range and never made it near the goal.
Next week the girls will try to keep the streak alive when they take on the 4-1 Andover Shock in a match at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 21 at Turf Time.
