Stoneham Man Charged With Attacking Girlfriend With a Switchblade

The following information was supplied by the Tewksbury Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

 

A Stoneham man is facing numerous charges after allegedly attacking his girlfriend with a knife and then stealing her car.

William C. Stella, III, 32, 294 West Wyoming Ave. Stoneham, was arrested Saturday (Dec. 10) around 2:30 a.m. at the Shell Station on the corner of Main and Chandler Streets. He is charged with assault and battery, assault with a dangerous weapon, use of a motor vehicle without permission, intimidating a witness, wanton destruction of property with a value greater than $250, carrying a dangerous weapon and operating a motor vehicle after his license had been revoked.

The incident began just after 2 a.m. Saturday, when _Tewksbury Police _received a 911 call from a woman on Rogers Street, who said her boyfriend had just attacked her with a switchblade knife.

Three units responded to the scene and the woman told the officers that her boyfriend had fled the scene in her car. A BOLO (Be On the Lookout) was put out for Stella but was cancelled when he was spotted at the Shell Station by a Tewksbury officer.

The victim was not seriously injured in the incident.

Bad bills and bad drugs

A Billerica man was arrested Friday (Dec. 9) after allegedly trying to pass counterfeit money at McDonald's Restaurant, 1920 Main St. Police were alerted to the situation by a McDonald's employee. Officers responded to the scene and found the fake currency in his possession, as well as illegal drugs.

Matthew Marsh, 20, 14 Nickerson Drive, Billerica, was charged with possessing a counterfeit note and possession of a class C substance.

Additional Arrests:

Carol P. Ripley, 56, 826 North St., Tewksbury, was arrested on Dec. 7 and charged with OUI-liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation. The arrest came after Ripley's car was involved in an accident on North Street in which a mailbox and a stone wall were damaged.

Timothy Lee Wood, 18, 365 Chandler St., Apt. A, Tewksbury, was arrested on Dec. 7 and charged with OUI-drugs and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. The car Wood was driving was pulled over after Tewksbury Police received a call that reported a suspicious vehicle parked at the corner of Chandler and Main Street with four young men inside who appeared to be smoking marijuana.
