SWAT Team Assists Tewksbury Police With Pinewood Avenue Arrest
Suspect wanted in Lowell for threatening to murder his ex-girlfriend.
A potentially dangerous situation ended peacefully last week, when the Tewksbury Police Department and the North Eastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) SWAT Team joined forces for an arrest on Pinewood Avenue.
David Robson, 33, of 173 Coburn Street, Lowell, was wanted by Lowell Police for allegedly threatening to murder his ex-girlfriend.
Police had received information that Robson might be armed with a gun and that Robson planned a "suicide by cop" by pointing his gun at officers and having them kill him.
Through further investigation, Robson was tracked to the home at 6 Pinewood Ave., Tewksbury. The NELMEC SWAT Team was called and a search warrant for the home was obtained, according to Tewksbury Police.
The NEMLEC Negotiator was able to call the home and have the occupants exit safely; however, Robson would leave the home, said Tewksbury Police Chief Timothy Sheehan.
However, after several more phone conversations with the SWAT negotiator, Robson walked out of the home without incident and was placed under arrest.
A gun was not located at the scene.
Robson was arraigned at Lowell District Court on Friday, March 8.
