Tarpey, Greenwood Lead Redmen Wrestlers Past Chelmsford, 42-33
Pinfall wins help Tewksbury pick up second victory of the season.
Sometimes it's best just to take care of business and not waste any time.
A series of pinfall wins, most in less than two minutes, carried the Tewksbury High wrestling team to a 42-33 home win over Chelmsford High, Wednesday.
The Redmen (2-5) fell behind early, as Chelmsford's Jake Ahearn pinned Tewksbury's Mike Rezbikow at 103 pounds in just 48 seconds. But from there, it was all Redmen.
Mike Pariseau drew Tewksbury even with a pinfall win over Chris Adams in 1:46 at 112 pounds.Nick Stavros followed at 119 with a pinfall win over Matt Perry in 2:51.
James Clasen wasted no time evening the match for Chelmford, pinning Will Ramsdell at 125 pounds in just 35 seconds.
Tewksbury was able to gain control of the match, with first-round pinfall wins at 130 and 135. Matt Greenwood pinned Jim Barry in 1:55 at 130 and Dan Altavesta pinned Taylor Cohan at 135 in just 73 seconds.
Dan Huntington kept the Lions close, scoring a win by decision, 14-8, over Tewskbury's Brandon McCarthy at 140. But Tewksbury answered with a pinfall win by Cody Smith at 145 over John Coddaire in just 1:37. A forfeit victory for Mike Davidian at 152 gave the Redmen a commanding lead.
Chelmsford tried to battle back. Ben Mensi scored a pinfall win over John Aylward in 2:53 at 160 pounds and Brent Torigian followed with a pinfall win at 171 over Tim Martel in just 1:13. But a quick pin by Tewskbury's Derek Tarpey over Joe St. Hilaire (44 seconds) at 189 put the match away.
Chelmsford's Jared Ayotte close the match with a pinfall win at 215 over Tewksbury's Andrew Conserva in 3:53. There was no match at 285.
