Tax Help Available Through The Senior Center

Silvertones will be holding a dance on Feb. 22.

 

The Silvertones will hold a dance at the Senior Center this Friday, February 22th from 7-10 PM. Tickets are available at the door at $10 per person. Refreshments are served mid evening. Public welcome.

Congratulations are extended to those special couples honored at the recent Friends & COA Valentine Dance. Those couples in attendance were: Bob and Anne Duncan, 50 years; Ed and Barbara Flanagan, 51 years; Tom and Clover Wilson, 51 years; Charlie and Janet Vitt, 52 years; and, Paul and Louise Gearty, 53 years. Those recognized but unable to attend were: Art & Jan Lockhart, 50 years; Tom and Mary Jo O'Brien 51 years; Ronald & Joan Thomas, 51 years, Butch and Dotty Proctor, 53 years; Paul & Margy Mouliason, 57 years; and, Walter and Gloria Deputat, 70 years...all true Valentines. From 2009 to 2013 we have had the pleasure of honoring forty-six (46) couples who reached their 50th or 50 plus anniversaries which points to the fact that there is plenty of LOVE in air.

An activities meeting will be held next Monday, February 25th, at 10:00 AM in the conference room. All are welcome.

DJ Jon Mansfield will be at the Senior Center on Monday afternoon, February 25th. Tickets are $6 per person.

Representative James Miceli's office hours will be held on Tuesday, February 26th beginning at 10 AM.

Karen Orband, RN, will be conducting a “Diabetes 101” seminar at the Senior Center on Wednesday, February 27th at 10:00 AM. If planning to attend, please call and let us know. Thanks.

Dr. Smith will conduct a podiatry clinic at the Senior Center on Saturday, March 9th. Tickets are now available. A co-pay of $15 is due upon registration. This clinic is limited to 35 Tewksbury Senior Citizens on a first come basis. The clinic is funded in part by the COA.

The next casino trip will be a visit to the Mohegan Sun on Thursday, March 7th. Tickets are now available.

On Thursday, February 28th, MRC through a MEMA grant, will conduct a free seminar a “Pet Preparedness Event” at the Tewksbury Senior Center. Learn about measures you can take to protect your animals in an emergency. Tour the region's emergency pet sheltering supply trailer...and learn about the region's preparations to care for the whole family in times of need. Can't make the 28th event? Check the bulletin board at the Senior Center for seminars held in Chelmsford and Westford in March.

Our AARP Tax Assistance Volunteers will now begin to assist Seniors with their tax returns. To take advantage of this free service one needs to sign-up at the Senior Center by dropping by or calling Jan 978-640-4482. Jan will arrange an appiontment for you and send you a confirmation memo with information on the documentation needed. Please note that this services is for standard returns that do not include multiple tax schedules.

Looking ahead, one may want to mark his/her calendar for the up-coming March events:

  • A Sunday Breakfast Benefit on March 3rd from 7:30 to 11:00 AM
  • A Corned Beef Dinner Dance on Friday, March 8th with dancing to the music of the Perfect Match Band
  • Senior Center Yard Sale on Saturday, March 23rd from 9 AM to 2 PM with tables space available at $15 per table or 2 tables for $25. Reservations are now being accepted for the yard sale. More information will be noted in the up-coming weeks.
