Teen Sent To Hospital With Alcohol Poisoning; Adult Facing Charges

A Tewksbury teen is recovering after being hospitalized over the weekend with alcohol poisoning.
The 14-year-old male, whose name is not being released, was taken to Saints Medical Center in Lowell late Saturday night (Aug. 6).
According to a spokesman for the Tewksbury Police Department, charges are pending against a 22-year-old Lowell man for providing the teen with the alcohol. Deputy Police Chief John Voto would not release the name of the suspect, as official charges have not yet been filed.
The incident began just after midnight, Sunday morning, when police received an anonymous phone call reporting an underaged drinking party at a home on Highland Avenue.
According to Voto, officers were to the residence, but found no one there.
A short time later, Police received a call from Saints Medical Center regarding the 14-year-old with alcohol poisoning. The teen was interviewed by Tewksbury Police and a suspect was identified.
It is unclear if the teen's case is directly linked to the report of the underage party, but police records indicate he had been picked up in the Highland Avenue neighborhood before being taken to the hospital.
Voto said neither the teen nor the suspect lived at the home officers went to. He said the case remains under investigation.
