TELL US: Will You Be Take A Shot At The $500 Million Powerball Jackpot
Powerball jackpot sets new record just in time for Christmas.
For someone, or maybe several someones, it's going to be a VERY merry Christmas.
Lottery officials announced Tuesday that the jackpot for tonight's (Wednesday's) Powerball drawing was expected to set a new record by topping $500 million.
The Powerball jackpot has not had a winner in nearly two months and has rolled over 15 times since the last. On Saturday, a $325 million jackpot went by the boards.
The largest previous Powerball jackpot was awarded in 2006, when eight meat packers in Nebraska split the top prize.
Powerball is played n 42 states (including Massachusetts), the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands. The odds of winning the top prize are said to be 1 in 175 million.
The largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history was paid out in March of this year, when three winners split a $656 million Mega Millions jackpot.
So we ask you, our readers -- Will you be buying Powerball tickets tonight and taking a chance at being the Merrimack Valley's newest millionaire? And how would it change your life if you were a jackpot winner?

Yes, we will take a chance. We probably would give most of it away to help those less fortunate than us, and use the rest to live comfortably (very comfortably) as long as we are here on earth. Wouldn't it be nice if there could be 500 winners?
