PHOTOS: Tewksbury Memorial High School Class of 2012 Graduation
The final graduation class of the old Tewksbury High goes out in style.
They will forwever be known as the final class to graduation from Tewksbury Memorial High School before the new school opens in the fall.
But the legacy of the TMHS Class of 2012 will go well beyond going to school in the shadow of contruction for the past two years. They've enjoyed great success in athletics (Super Bowl appearance, best tennis record in school history) and academics (four graduates attending Ivy League schools).
And what other class can boast two valedictorians (Keon Horahan and CJ Sutherland)?
On Friday, June 1, at the Tsongas Center, 239 members of the TMHS Class of 2012 received their diplomas.
It was an evening of cheers and tears, of fond memories and bold visions for the future.
Editor Bill Gilman was in attendance and capture these images.

I don't even know how to respond to that. Please don't use the accomplishments of the Class of '12 to make political jokes or make blatant political messages. Thank you.

There's actually a funny story behind that Denise. I didnt know how to tell it but i will put it here. Dr. O'Connor had promised the seniors that he would keep his remarks short if they all gave him their phone numbers so he could text them with the complete remarks. Apparently enough did. He kept it short and he was texting his complete speech to the Class of 2012 data base of numbers. Welcome to the 21st century.

I think it was a disgrace that they charged 10.00 for parking for graduates and families. All in all it was a nice ceremony, but they should be ashamed of themselves for that. Charging students for yearly parking at the High School is bad enough. I know I wasn't the only parent who feels the same way.

As far as I know, the administration of TMHS had no say in parking. It was the Tsongas Arena management who made that decision, I believe.

The 10 dollars is also more than the full days rate of 8 dollars. So you actually were hit with more than a 100% increase for the less than 4 hrs you were actually there.

You're right, the Tsongas arena should not have charged the students. I had other family members come from different towns to see my son graduate. We paid a total of $60.00 for one student, we the parents, and 4 other vehicles from other towns. I was embarrassed since I told them I park in the Lowell garages twice weekly and pay $4.00 for 3 hours!

They could have worked something out, at least use the left over money they had and let the graduates park for free. Just wrong.. glad my child carpooled as they all had to scrap together their change just to park.
