Meet The Candidates Night' Tonight at TCC
Event will give voters a chance to hear from each of the candidates and meet them face-to-face.
As part of our coverage of the 2013 Tewksbury Municipal Election, Tewksbury Patch will be sponsoring a Candidates Night on Tuesday, March 26, at Tewksbury Country Club.
The event will begin at 7 p.m. All candidates on the ballot, both in contested and uncontested races, are invited to participate.
The event is free and the public is both invited and encouraged to attend.
The Candidates Night will feature "Meet and Greet" time with the candidates at both the start and the end of the evening. In between, each candidate will have the opportunity to make a five-minute speech.
There will be a cash bar available.
"We're pleased to once again be hosting an event that gives voters a chance to meet the candidates face-to-face," said Tewksbury Patch Editor Bill Gilman. "Not only do voters have a chance to hear a 'stump' speech but they can meet these men and women, look them in the eye, ask them questions one-on-one and get a good sense of their character."
The event will be videotaped for later broadcast on Public Access TV.
In addition, Tewksbury Patch and the Town Crier will be co-sponsoring a debate for candidates fof the Board of Selectmen and School Committee on Monday, April 1 at Tewksbury High School.
Readers are invited to email suggested questions for the debate to Editor Bill Gilman at tewksbury@patch.com.

When I ran for BOH I said that I would attend Candidates Night even though I would not be running. I wanted to give the Candidates support during their time at the "mike". It is a great way to meet the people who are running. And I might say I found it exciting to try and convince everyone why they should elect me. I hope all the Candidates attend. And also I hope lots of citizens come out and listen and size up the Candidates. You won't be sorry!!!

I have gone to this event each year since it started. Although I usually have a pretty good idea of who I would cast my vote for before heading in, due to this event I have changed my mind on several candidates in the past due to either what they said.... or didn't say, during Meet the Candidates nights. I encourage everyone to come to this event to educate themselves & be able to vote with a clear conscience on election day.

Tewksbury is a great place to be a candidate for any of th above posititions. The greatest fear in any political race is the uninformed voter that has not done his homework. The candidates are willing to give years of public service. The least we can do is to listen to them and maybe ask a few questions privately or publically. Enjoy a Gizzmo free night and join your neighbors while performing your civic responsibility. Never leave obligations and opportunities on something this important to someone that does not share your values. Protect Tewksbury vote inteligently.

I wish this event didn't coincide with the second night of Passover. I'll be happy to see the Q and A in patch for those of us unable to attend the actual event.
