Tewksbury Police Issue Code Red For Attempted House Break on Whipple Road
Police are asking for the public's help to identify and locate suspect.
Tewksbury Police are asking for the public's help to identify and locate a suspect who attempted to break into a home at 666 Whipple Road Tuesday afternoon.
The attempted burglary took place at approximately 2 p.m., according to a Code Red alert issued by Tewksbury Police.
Any resident who witnessed a suspicious individual or vehicle in that neighborhood around that time is asked to call the Tewksbury Police at 978-851-7355.

No details as yet. What we've printed is what the police provided in the alert. In past practice, if a description was available, the police are generally quick to release it.

This unfortunate invasion happened to me. (And yes, that is my real address - delivery drivers usually get a good chuckle out of it !)
I can't comment on the ongoing case . . .but am thankful to the Tewksbury PD for their swift actions in responding to the call.

At least the scumbag did not gain entry to your home some people have not been that lucky this year with the massive crimewave that has hit tewksbury almost once a week a house is getting broken into.

I'm a few houses down the road from you and had my cars broken into Sunday night with a house full of guests. Tewksbury police arrived immediately! They also took out the k9 very impressive. It stinks that my things were taken and not recovered but I will be on my toes from now on.

I'm very concerned about the amount of break-ins that this town has been getting. We have lived here for 25 years, and my quiet little street has had several break-ins. The most recent was right on Chandler Street, around the corner from me, and there was a home invastion. Why weren't the neighbors informed of this? We are fearful to even live here anymore, and now down at the other corner at Whipple. We really need to start forming neighborhood watch groups. This is very sad for this town.

There is one neighborhood watch group. Maybe talk to the police station about new ones. I believe Officer Jennie Welch may be in charge of the existing one if that helps.

Our home was broken into a few years back- shortly after my grandmother had died and all of her jewelry was taken from me. The robbers only took jewelry, but it was extremely tramatic and I STILL do not feel safe in my home, even with the addition of an alarm system. The police didnt do much back then, other than file a report. I think I expected it to be like NCIS with people dusting for prints and the like. I hunted local pawn shops for my belongings, but never found anything. Neighborhood watches are a terrific idea, my neighbors look out for one another, which is a great comfort!

John, glad to hear you are ok. It doesn't help that they reopend the bridge on Brown. It just makes Whipple a carbon copy of rt 38. Easy route to travel and speed, easy route to scope out potential places to rob, Cops are never patrolling the area and like Julia said they don't do much other than "file a report" when they investigate robberies (unless you are a high profile person or are connected). All I can say is look out for one another and protect your home and family with whatever means you feel is required. A neighborhood watch is a good start. A neighborhood gun club is an even better one!.

Not sure if I agree with you about the cops.. I always see them on Whipple! And I saw them out with the K9 the other night after the cars were broken into over there.. and they arrested all 3 of these scumbags within a couple days of the crime.. not sure what else you want them to do? Unless the residents of this neighborhood "are high profile or connected"...
