'Tewksbury's Got Talent' To Showcase Community's Best

Auditions for third annual town-wide talent show set for Nov. 30.

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the Tewksbury Historical Society.)

The ever-popular "Tewksbury Has Talent" Show is returning for the third year with the Tryout Night on Nov. 30.

It will be held at the Wynn School starting at 6:10pm. The tryouts are open to all ages from 3rd grade to senior citizens.

It is rumored that a group from the senior citizen age bracket will be competing for the first time with the school age citizens that have dominated past programs.  Instrumental performances, dancing, singing, comedy, magic acts, and even martial arts all compete for Historical Society judges and audience judges.  That is correct - the audience can purchase a judging sheet and vote for their favorite group during tryout night.  Their scores are added to the Historical Society judges with the winner receiving a gift card if they win.

So far, everyone that tried out is in Show on December 3rd.  Tryout applications will be available in schools shortly or at the library in the Local History Room on the second floor every Tuesday from 3:30-5:30.  Make sure the application is returned to the Historical Society.  All people competing should be in the school by 5:45 to check in and prepare for the show.  Late applications will be allowed if time is available.

All participants will have no more than 5 minutes on stage to perform.  This is open to only Tewksbury residents unless you are in a group, people from in-town may have performers that are out of town.  Tryouts are free to watch and judging sheets will cost $1.00.

The Tewksbury Historical Society started the program several years ago to put on a show of celebration that will mark Tewksbury's 277th Birthday.  Tewksbury was incorporated in 1734 and final part of this process will be a gala show on Dec. 3rd (Saturday) starting at 6:30pm at the Wynn School.

Tickets will be on sale at the Tryouts and also every Tuesday at the Local History Room in the Tewksbury Library from 3:30 to 5:30pm.  Winners of the Talent Tryouts will be announced at the conclusion of the "Tewksbury Has Talent" Show on Dec. 3.  You may make reservations or have questions answered for Dec. 3 by emailing the Society at: tewksburyhistoricalsociety@MSN.com.

Please leave your name, address, phone number and how many premium tickets you need.  Premium tickets cost $8.00 each or you may purchase General Admission Tickets for $6.00.  You may pay for them on December 3rd by checking the "Will Call" table in the lobby.  All proceeds will go towards the Societies Building Fund.
