Tewksbury Students Honored by Shawsheen Tech
Martucci, Forest named Students of the Month for October.
The Seniors of the Month for October at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School were Alyssa Martucci of Tewksbury and Thomas Forest of Tewksbury.
Martucci, the top ranked student in her class academically, is working hard toward a career in nursing.
She hopes to be a pediatric nurse some day and eventually work at Children's Hospital in Boston, a career path she developed at Shawsheen Tech.
While studying health technology at the school, Martucci has also gained valuable experience in the field.
Over the summer, she was employed at a local nursing home and also volunteered at Children's Hospital, where she spent four hours each week entertaining patients prior to their treatments and operations.
"I really enjoyed that," she said.
Martucci stays involved in many activities at Shawsheen Tech.
She has been published in the school's newspaper and its literary magazine and has participated in several sports including lacrosse, soccer, basketball and track and field. Martucci received the Coach's Award in lacrosse last spring and helped the girls soccer team win both a league title and a state vocational championship this fall.
Martucci is active when she isn't wearing a Ram uniform as she participates in a walk for breast cancer.
An honor roll student and a member of the National Honor Society, Martucci has been recognized often for her outstanding academics. She has received multiple citizenship awards, received a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship this year and received a prestigious Book Award last year. She is also a regular participant in the Skills USA competition.
Martucci enjoys playing guitar in her spare time.
Forest is a well-rounded member of the Class of 2011.
Ranked in the top 10 of the senior class academically, he is one of the school's top Commercial Art and Design students and is hoping to use his skills in the future. He's hoping to attend Full Sail, a well-known college for media, entertainment and arts located in Winter Park, Florida.
Along with developing an impress portfolio at Shawsheen Tech, Forest has been able to maintain his grades in the classroom. The honor roll student is a member of the National Honor Society.
Forest also enjoys athletics. He plays on Shawsheen's tennis team and also grew up participating in Tewksbury Youth Basketball.
Forest has also done community service for the town of Wilmington.
