Tewksbury Teens Win Free College Tuition With Adams Scholarship

Thirty Tewksbury residents who attend Shawsheen Tech were recently congratulated by Education Commissioner Mitchell Chester.

 

(Editor's note: The following information was submitted by the administration of Shawsheen Tech.)

Thirty Tewksbury teens who attend Shawsheen Tech have earned the John and Abigail Adams Scholarship by virtue of their performance on the MCAS exams.

The John and Abigail Adams Scholarship provides non-need-based state-supported undergraduate tuition waivers to students who qualify, based on standards determined by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Eligible students score in the Advanced category in either the Mathematics or the English Language Arts section of the 10th grade MCAS test and score in the Proficient or Advanced category on the other subject.  They also have a combined MCAS score that ranks in the top 25 percent in their school district.

Denise, I totally agree with you, however its Tewksbury Public that needs to get on the ball with acknowledging their own students..They're a little slow..
