Tewksbury U-14's Eliminated in Semifinals

Team advances with quarterfinal win before being ousted.

(Editor's note: The following information was provided by the coaching staff of the Tewskbury Girls U-14 indoor soccer team.)

On a nasty snowy rainy night in Tewksbury the girls showed up.

On Jan. 18, the playoffs were held at Turf Time in Tewksbury. The girls headed into the playoffs with a 6-2 record and No. 3 seed in the single elimination playoffs.

In the first game the locals completely dominated the North Andover team en route to a 3-0 victory.  Lear Bear Leary and KG Gammons supplied the scoring punch for the Tewksbury Girls.  Michelle Farraher & KG put up another shutout in the nets.

The offense in this game was a complete Team effort with Meredith Cahill, Karah Chaisson, Aria Porzio, Stephanie Travis and Taylor Donahoe completely smothering the ball in the opponents end.  On the rare occasion that the ball made it into our end the stone wall of Ashley Colarusso, Haley Pozzuto, Haley Aznavoorian and Nicole Malfa were there to shut it down.

Then it was on to the next round against a formidable opponent being the Andover Shock (which is a club team) that had really put one on the locals the week before in a 7-1 thrashing.

Not this time.

The girls as a team came out and played their best game of the season in this one.  Every loose ball was contested or run down, the girls came together as a team and made everyone who was at this game believe that this was anyone’s game to win.  In the end a couple  of bounces going the wrong way and the girls lost 2-0.

The Shock went on and easily won the next game to become the league champions but the Tewksbury girls left with heads held high.
